Children visiting dentists can sometimes be frightened. However, at my dental care, kids are treated with the utmost care and concern, ensuring their visits are pleasant and comfortable. The art of dealing with children is also education. This means we also provide preventative treatment and care by way of discussing hygiene and dental procedures in an easy and accessible way for kids to understand and follow.

PIT & Fissure Sealants
Dental fissure sealants are a protective layer applied on the chewing surface of teeth to provide a barrier against bacteria that accumulates and cause cavities. This procedure is a great preventative for tooth decay. Not all teeth with fissures need sealants. At my dental care we advise fissure sealants if there are large grooves or pits in the teeth. The first permanent molar teeth emerges around 6 years of age and the second permanent molars emerges around 13 years of age which need to be checked if sealants might help. Applying a sealant is quick and painless. There is no anaesthetic, or drilling required, and typically only takes a few minutes per tooth.
